In June of this year I happen to walk by James and Sons after a late lunch. I had never heard of them before but I love jewelry so I wanted to check them out, so glad I did. I was very impressed with this place. I've had two sets of pearls re-strung (family heirlooms) and they did watch batteries quickly and WAY cheaper than Kay's (who used to have a scroungey-looking store on North that closes). I have a penchant for cheap watches where the battery replacement can cost more than the watch itself. You don't want to do it yourself, even if you have the tiny tools. She was very polite and took her time with me telling me about what she had in stock. Oh my, where do I begin?! Since early May 2018 I have been working with Cara to help me design and decide on how to re-configure my great grandmothers wedding band for it to sit well with my engagement ring. It is a gorgeous ring and I was very hesitant on altering it, very hesitant! I also know absolutely NOTHING about jewelry in general, but Cara and the rest of the staff helped me learn, which I am also thankful for. I changed my ideas, DRASTICALLY 3 different times, and each and every time, Cara was so patient and helped me start all over. In the end, I never altered my great grandmother's ring, but instead added a new band that was customized to sit in between the two rings and it looks stunning! I could not have done this at all without the help from Cara and her team....Tina has also helped me in the past and at one point, I had every staff member helping me! It was a big deal to me and they made me feel so comfortable and truly wanted to make sure I was 100% happy and comfortable with my decision. I would never go to another jewelry store, every single staff member is incredibly helpful, energetic, and they genuinely care. A little over a year and a half ago, I was looking for the perfect engagement ring for my fiancé. I have always heard great things about James & Sons; they have been established and reputable for the long time that I lived in Orland. Bonnie took me under her wing and she helped me pick out the perfect ring that was in my budget for my fiancé. She did not pressure me nor did anyone in the store; which is something that is really important especially when you are picking out something this special. Myfiancé cannot stop looking at it (even almost a year and a half later) and so I decided to go with Tj company again to choose my wedding band. Again, same amazing service and quality products. Go see Jean Moran and you will be taken care of like family. She walked me through finding the perfect engagement ring and wedding band. Jean took the time to educate me so that I could make the decision the was right for me. There was no pressure; she wanted me to be comfortable with every decision. She brought in rings for me to see that I found online. We sat and talked about my furnace so that Jean would be able to give me relevant advice. After I proposed, my fiancé and I stopped in and Jean greeted us with hugs and tears of happiness. You won't get this level of service anywhere else. I've already gone back and Jean helped me with pearls for a gift for my bride. She remembered everything about her and was able to help me pick the perfect strand. But again there was no pressure and she really wanted me to be satisfied. She was also great in educating me about care and maintenance. I wanted to propose to my girlfriend on Sunday April 1st because we were going to be with her family then. Her customized ring would not be in for 5-7 weeks so I wanted to have a small band as a symbol for her until her real engagement ring came in. I noticed recently that there was something wrong with one of the diamonds, I came to Brian and he verified that the stone had cracked. I wanted rose gold, which they did not have available in the band width that I wanted. However, Leslie went to speak with their in-house jeweler, who said he could take care of it. We had a very tight time constraint and Leslie treated my purchase as a rush order to ensure it would be ready on time. In the middle of all of this, I was out of town but Leslie kept me updated.
It wasn't an expensive purchase because I wanted a very slim, plain band, but we were treated as if we mattered.

I doubt that Leslie even remembers us, but I won't forget her kindness and professionalism!

Our Family have been faithful customers of James and Sons for over 15 years now, and this week-we know why...we have always felt comfortable buying quality, beautiful pieces of jewelry from them, so when it was time to upgrade my Husbands wedding ring, there wasn't a question of where to go.
